Day 2 – Jose Villa Wedding Photography Workshop in Mexico

Again after a morning filled with classroom lessons, we headed out into the afternoon sun to photograph our two lovely couples, this time in *the* most beautiful Claire Pettibone wedding dresses. If only Britain had light like this to photograph my lovely clients in, together with donkeys passing by…….

Day 1 – Jose Villa Wedding Photography Workshop in Mexico

After a full morning in the beautiful hacienda barn we came to call our classroom, each afternoon we got to take our cameras out into the Mexican sunshine for some practical assignments. Today’s; each photographer had three minutes each with two gorgeous couples to take off into the hacienda grounds and photograph as we’d choose. Most of my work for the week was shot on film, but here’s a selection of what I shot on digital:

Destination Wedding | Egyptian Wedding in Cairo

Filed under: Cairo, Destination Weddings — Tags: — Catherine @ 10:07 am

I’m back from photographing a fantastic Egyptian wedding in Cairo…… although sadly the couple have chosen not to have their wedding photographs displayed online for privacy reasons. I met the couple in London and she explained that they were both going home to get married in Cairo and were having a typical Egyptian wedding. Due to religious and privacy reasons, she was very keen on how I work, a female photographer working alone, so that she could feel totally at ease during the preparation stages. As the wedding plans progressed, I became more and more excited at the prospect of photographing a wedding that sounded like a photographer’s paradise, including belly dancers! Having worked alone in foreign countries before, I wasn’t too concerned about going it alone and I got the opportunity to practice some of my Arabic which I’m currently studying at uni.

Huge congratulations, and wishing you every happiness together.

Destination Wedding | A Girl alone in Cairo

Filed under: Cairo, Destination Weddings, International Assignments — Catherine @ 9:49 pm

Tomorrow I am photographing my first destination wedding here in Cairo, and I’m excited and nervous all at once. I’ve spent the day walking around Cairo with a camel ride to the Pyramids. Tonight I am entertaining myself with a good book and a strawberry daiquiri before tomorrow’s fun begins. Good night all!
